Well, we made it back. The administrator and I drove thru the ice storm that hit southern Missouri and northern Arkansas on Monday evening. That storm extended our trip by about 3 hours due to the bad road conditions. But we finally drove out of it around Collins, Missouri and was driving the speed limit in no time. We stayed at my parents house the next day and visited with them. The roads were still a mess and we did not get to go to my dads hunting camp. I believe if the administrator had seen it he would mark Missouri down as a good place to go hunting. He was already impressed with the amount of geese he saw at my in-laws place. He said he had not seen that many flocks in years.
The return trip was not as bad as going. The ice storm had gone east and had pounded the Paducah, KY area. We had to wait in line to get gas for an hour. There was no electricity in almost every area and along with that there was no cell service either. We did the best that we could and kept driving and checking the phone until we could get service to call everyone. They were worried we had some trouble getting thru the ice in Kentucky.
So, we are home again for a little while.
