Back from Michigan
Well after a 14 hour drive through snow and ice we arrived in Sebewaing Michigan. The forecast was dismal at best, but with only 2 days to fish the weather didn't matter. With highs in the teens and lows being sub zero, we new the fishing would be tough ! They seemed to favor a yellow or green lead head jig tipped with a minnow. The fish we caught were all in the 3 to 4 pound range. We fished in about 14 foot of water straight off fish point, Thomas Marine offers a great entry point. If you are not familiar with Saginaw Bay, take your GPS or a good compass. We took our Artic Cat 4x4 about 6 miles out and had good ice the whole way. The fish were all caught in the last 20 minutes of day light , so you have to know how to get back in the dark!! That's where the GPS comes in, the bay is unforgiving and claims many fisherman each year!! Saginaw Bay offers some of the best Walleye fishing in the states. The fishing is great all year and we will make this trip again in late July or early August. Thanks for a great trip Brian and Jodi hope to see you soon. P.S.... These fish eat really GOOD !!!
Road Trip
The administrator and I are going out of town on a little road trip this week. We are headed for Missouri and hope to stop at a few places on the way. I would like to stop at the Bass Pro home store in Springfield, Mo. Even being from Missouri, I have never been in that store.
Then we will head north to my parents home in Tightwad, Mo. Yes, that is a real place. It is located in the Truman Lake area. Lots of great fishing and hunting in the area. The Bald Eagles were there in December and hope to see a few more.
After that, we will head further north to historic Lexington, Mo. on the Missouri River. At Christmas time there were ducks everywhere. The river area is a great place to hunt waterfowl since it never freezes over.
Then we will head back to the slightly warmer climate in Tennessee. Rabbits will be in season for a few more weeks then we will get ready for some serious Turkey hunting in late March.
Talk to you later

Hunting is about over
Here in Tennessee, the hunting is just about over. All the big game seasons are closed and the small game seasons will close shortly. Rabbits are the next thing to hunt with the cold weather here for now.
When the weather starts to break it will be fishing time. I have a small farm pond to catch bluegill/perch and catfish out of and will start to fish some other lakes in the area also. I am going to take the daughter out to get her started. She has only fished a few times before and I hope I can get her interested.

Bruce's Bucks

A friend of mine has some trail cams setup. These are some of the pics he had of the deer on their leased property in Tennessee. The big buck is still on the loose since he went nocturnal and was laying lowing during the day.

Heading North
Today we are packing our gear and heading north to Saginaw Bay near Sebewaing, Michigan. I was born and raised in this small farming town and always look forward to "going home" for a little ice fishing!! Friends and family say the gator (walleye) fishing is really starting to heat up. Nothing like pulling an eight pound fish thru a 10 inch hole with a 2 foot pole!! With another major snow moving in Friday night it could be a tricky ride, but with a high front moving in behind the storm the fishing should be good. I will try to update you daily but this will depend on my availability to service. We will also be adding other authors soon. One Pro Staff member, Paul is in Iowa trying to bag a late season Booner (whitetail) and should have some great photos and footage to go with his blog. Paul is just one of many Searchaguide Pro Staffers you will hear from. Talk to you soon.

Jan 6, 2009
Went back to work yesterday. I had been off on vacation for 2 weeks. We went to Missouri to see our folks and enjoy Christmas with the family.
If you like duck hunting, Missouri is the place to go. Lots of birds flying. The best spot I had seen was around the Lexington area on the Missouri river. Saw a few deer at my parents place outside of Clinton. Also check out the Bald Eagles while at Truman Lake. Saw several while driving across a couple of bridges. They were sitting on top of dead trees standing in the water hunting for fish.
Now back in Tennessee, deer season is almost done. It closes this Sunday and opens the next weekend for a juvenile hunt and its all over then. Then it will be time to get the fishing gear ready.
